TOPEKA, KS, FEB 11, 2009: In a heartwarming gesture of support, the Topeka RoadRunners hockey team has announced plans for "Military Appreciation Night" where all veterans and active personnel receive a FREE ticket.

"Military Appreciation Night" is slated for Friday, February 27, 2009 when the RoadRunners face the Kenai River Brown Bears in NAHL action at the Kansas Expocentre. Game time is set for 7:05 pm. Team owner Mary Magdalene Lorang wants to do something special for the men and women of our Armed Forces, and decided offering a free night of entertainment is something that would be helpful in tight economic times. "I have a number of friends who have either served or are serving in different branches of the military", Lorang said. "I want to do something for all of those who do so much for all of us."

The free ticket offer is valid for all branches of service, and is extended to both active and veteran personnel. There is a limit of one free ticket per valid military ID, but friends and families of the military are being offered a discounted rate as well to make the night a memorable and exciting event.

Members of the military are encouraged to get their tickets in advance to avoid lines at the ticket booth on game night. For instructions on getting tickets, military personnel are asked to contact the RoadRunners business office at 785-286-7825. Details will also be posted on the teams official website.

The RoadRunners have a record of 35-7-4 on the year and are striving to repeat as NAHL South Division Champions. In their second season in Topeka, attendance has risen by more than 18% compared to the first season, a good indicator that hockey is growing and is here to stay.
