Top Two Teams In USPV Fall

ST. LOUIS, MO., April 2, 2002_ The St. Louis Quest outlasted the Minnesota Chill 3-2 Tuesday night in U.S. Pro Volleyball (USPV) action at the Washington University Fieldhouse.

St. Louis sent league leading Minnesota into the losers column after outlasting the Chill 24-22 in a marathon fifth game tiebreaker (standard fifth game played to 15).

Minnesota dropped to 9-5 (29 points) with the loss, but gained a point in the standings after surging Chicago had a five-match winning streak stopped when Grand Rapids scored a 3-0 victory at Walker, Mich. Minnesota leads Chicago (8-5) by 8 points. Those two teams square off Thursday in Chicago.

Benishe Roberts led St. Louis with 22 points (19 kills).

Minnesota libero Addie Mahnken set a new USPV record for most digs in a match with 28, while Chill setter Lindsey Berg tied the league setting assist mark with 66.

At Walker, Mich., former Ball State standout Megan Hammons scored 11.5 points to help Grand Rapids stop a league-record five-match losing streak. Chicago came into the match having won 7 of its last 8 matches.
