Top Prospects Headline All-Star Game

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Twenty-two top organizational prospects, and three of MLB.com's Top 100 prospects have been named to the 2018 Southern League All-Star Game North and South Division rosters. The talent is set to showcase its skills at the Home Run Derby and the following All-Star Game on June 19 at Regions Field.

The host-city is set to bring five of the Chicago White Sox' top prospects, highlighted by the Sox' No. 1 overall prospect and Major League Baseball's No. 3 overall prospect in starting left fielder Eloy Jimenez. Joining the Birmingham slugger from the Sox top prospects list are catchers Zack Collins (No. 9) and Seby Zavala (No. 21), as well as pitches Ian Hamilton (No. 19) and Dane Dunning (No. 6). Dunning also ranks No. 66 in MLB's Top 100 Prospects.

Following Birmingham's North-Division high five organizational prospects are the Montgomery Biscuits with three of the Tampa Bay Rays' top minor leaguers. Representing the Biscuits' top talent will be infielder Nick Solak (No. 11), pitcher Genesis Cabrera (No. 21) and outfielder Ryan Boldt (No. 24). Solak ranks among the MLB's Top 10 second base prospects at No. 5.

The Jackson Generals and Tennessee Smokies each bring two All-Stars from their respective organization's Top 30. Starting on the mound for the North will be General's hurler Taylor Widener (Diamondbacks No. 4). He will be joined by fellow General hurler Mason McCullough, Arizona's No. 28 prospect.

Representing the top organizational prospects from the 2016 World Champion Chicago Cubs will be pitcher Thomas Hatch (No. 7) and third baseman Jason Vosler (No. 30).

The opposition from the South Division touts the remaining 10 organizational prospects, led by Jacksonville outfielder Monte Harrison. Harrison is the Miami Marlins' No. 1 overall prospect and Major League Baseball's No. 62 prospect off the Top 100 list. Also representing the Jumbo Shrimp is Marlins' No. 8 prospect Nick Neidert.

The Biloxi Shuckers will bring a South Division-high four organizational prospects, led by outfielder Corey Ray, ranked No. 6 in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system. Following Ray is outfield counterpart Troy Stokes, Jr. (No. 20), first baseman Jake Gatewood (No. 17), and pitcher Zack Brown (No. 23).

All three of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos' representatives rank among the Cincinnati Reds Top 30, led by Red's No. 5 prospect and MLB's No. 6 second base prospect Shed Long. Long, a native of Oxford, Alabama, will be joined by teammates Aristides Aquino (No. 12) and Keury Mella (No. 19).

Rounding out the South Division and the remainder of the organizational talent on hand for the All-Star Game will be the Atlanta Braves' lone top prospect in pitcher Touki Toussaint (No.11) from the Mississippi Braves.

While the field is set to showcase the skills of these future MLB stars, the initial rosters and the top prospects they include are subject to change and will be updated as player transactions occur due to promotion, trade, or injury.
