Tony Pena induction date set

PHOENIX- The Arizona Fall League has announced that on Wednesday, November 3rd at Scottsdale Stadium Tony Pena will be inducted into the Arizona Fall League Hall of Fame. Pena will be in Scottsdale and honored in a ceremony at 6:55 p.m. The game between the Peoria Saguaros and the Scottsdale Scorpions will begin at 7:15 p.m.

Before winning American League Manager of the Year in 2003 with the Kansas City Royals, Pena managed the Maryvale Saguaros in 2000 to a 19-22 record. Pena spent three years managing Houston's AAA club, the New Orleans Zephyrs. Pena's son Tony Jr. is currently playing in the AFL for the Grand Canyon Rafters.

Other AFL Hall of Fame Members are- Mike Piazza (Sun Cities 1992), Nomar Garciaparra (Scottsdale 1994), Derek Jeter (Chandler 1994), Dusty Baker (Scottsdale manager 1992), Jason Giambi (Peoria 1994), Jerry Manuel (Mesa Manager 1994), Shawn Green (Scottsdale 1993), Todd Helton (Peoria 1996) and Mike Scioscia (Peoria 1997).

Arizona Fall League Hall of Fame inductees are determined by the Arizona Fall League Hall of Fame Selection Committee. Anaheim Angels' All-Star Garret Anderson will be inducted on Friday, October 29th at Scottsdale Stadium prior to the Rafters-Scorpions game at 7:05 pm.
