Arizona Fall League game notes

MANIC MONDAY: All three Arizona Fall League games today will be in the afternoon. The Scorpions will travel to Peoria to play the Javelinas. The Saguaros will be in Mesa to take on the Solar Sox and the Desert Dogs will be in Scottsdale to play the Rafters. All three games begin at 1:05 p.m. Each team will play 38 games and the winners of the two divisions will meet in a one-game championship on November 20th at Scottsdale Stadium.
SATURDAY'S RECAPS
Win on the Road: A back and fourth game in Scottsdale went to the visiting Peoria Javelinas 4-2. The Javelinas led 4-0 until two Grand Canyon runs in the fifth cut their lead in half. Late-inning threats came up empty for the Rafters and the Javelinas picked up their fifth win. Jake Dittler (CLE) held the Rafters scoreless through the fourth inning, then gave way to Jared Thomas (SEA) who allowed the two runs in three innings of work and picked up the win.
Dogs on a roll: The Desert Dogs drove in 11 runs on 15 hits to hand the Solar Sox their eighth loss in Mesa. All nine Desert Dogs had at least one hit, however only four players scored runs. Eric Reed (FLA) went 3-for-5 with a triple, a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base. Anaheim infield prospect Casey Smith ended 3-for-5 with a walk, four runs scored and two RBIs. Royals' prospect Mark Teahen finished a perfect 1-for-1 with four walks and three runs scored.
Scorpions Sting Saguaros: The Scottsdale Scorpions scored seven times before the Peoria Saguaros scored a run Saturday afternoon at Peoria Sports Complex. Dustin Pedroia (BOS) was 3-for-4 and Conor Jackson (AZ) was 4-for-5 in the Saguaros' 11-3 win. Justin Wechsler (AZ) pitched two hitless innings and picked up the win.

Two for Wednesday: Wednesday, October 27th the Peoria Saguaros and the Grand Canyon Rafters will play a double header due to the rainout on October 21st. The first game will begin at 12:05 pm at Scottsdale Stadium. The games will be seven innings each.
ASU Baseball and the AFL: The Arizona Fall League and ASU Baseball have teamed up for the Rafters-Scorpions game on Friday, October 29th at Scottsdale Stadium. The Fall League will pay tribute to the ASU baseball team as they will be in attendance to sign autographs. Show your ASU spirit and receive $1.00 off admission to the game.
Coming Attraction: The Fall League will give away 100 Richie Sexson Bobblehead Dolls October 29th at Scottsdale Stadium. Winners will be selected through a lucky number drawing for all fans in attendance.
Spotlight on Garret Anderson: The Arizona Fall League continues its tradition of honoring former player and managers by inducting them into the Hall of Fame. Garret Anderson will be in attendance for the Scorpions-Rafters game on Friday, October 29th at Scottsdale Stadium. The induction ceremony will take place prior to the start of the 7:05 pm game.
Around the Corner Tony Peña, Sr.: The Arizona Fall League continues its tradition of honoring former player and managers by inducting them into the Hall of Fame. Tony Peña, Sr. will be in attendance for the Saguaros-Scorpions game on Wednesday, November 3rd at Scottsdale Stadium. The induction ceremony will take place prior to the start of the 7:05 pm game.
