Florida Seals News Release
First Place Visitors: The Orlando Seals host the first place Jacksonville Barracudas tonight.
Records: The Seals are 20-10-4 with 44 points in third place in WHA2.
Jacksonville is 24-11-1 with 49 points in first place in WHA2.
Season Series: These two teams have met six times this season, each team has won three times, and each team has one overtime/shootout loss. So the head to head series is dead even with each team having three wins, two regulation losses and one overtime/shootout loss. Jacksonville won the most recent meeting between the two teams, winning 5-2 in Orlando on December 1st. That was the first time this season the visiting team had won in this series.
Recent Results: Both of these teams are coming off losses to Miami in their most recent outings. The Seals dropped their second straight 4-3 overtime decision (they lost in a shootout on December 6 in Miami) to Miami on Tuesday night. Jacksonville lost 6-2 in Miami on Sunday night.
Power Play: Seals 24-147 16.3% 6th Jacksonville 32-148 21.6% 2nd
Penalty Kill: Seals 103-130 79.2% 3rd Jacksonville 117-149 78.5% 5th
Goalie Go Round: With Mike Correia on the injured reserve list following arthroscopic knee surgery on Monday, and David Goverde listed as day to day, it is possible Shad Higginbotham could get the start in goal for the Seals tonight. If he does play, he would be the third goalie to see action in the Seals net this season. If Higginbotham does play, the Seals would join Jacksonville and Lakeland as the other WHA2 teams to use more than two goalies this season.
Fast Starters: The Seals have outscored their opponents 40-24 in the first period this season.
Next Up: The Seals continue their four game homestand on Sunday afternoon when they play the Lakeland Loggerheads. Game time on Sunday is 4:05 p.m.
