Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets and Greenville Drive played to the top of the third inning on Saturday night at Lake Olmstead Stadium before Mother Nature decided to get a word in edgewise. After a 90-minute rain delay, the game was cancelled - not to be made up as a result of the fact that the two teams do not meet again in the first half.
Aaron King struck out five in 2.2 innings of work, but since the game was not completed and will not be completed, those statistics will be lost and will not count.
The regularly scheduled fireworks show after the game was also cancelled and will be moved to a date to be announced later.
Anyone holding tickets for tonight's game can exchange their seats for tickets to any other game during the 2009 regular season at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
The Jackets welcome the Asheville Tourists to town on Sunday for a five-game series, thanks to a doubleheader on Tuesday. Kyle Nicholson (2-4, 4.50) will get the ball for the GreenJackets against Christian Friedrich (3-2, 1.59) First pitch will come at 2:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on WRDW AM 1630 and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.
