Tomahawks Try-Out Camp To Be Held At 1st Summit Arena
July 9, 2019 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Johnstown Tomahawks News Release
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - For the first time in over two decades, 1ST SUMMIT ARENA @ Cambria County War Memorial will install ice in the middle of July. The Johnstown Tomahawks will conduct their main tryout camp July 11-14. Over 100 players from all over the United States, Canada and Europe will compete for a spot on the team's 2019-20 roster.
The arena began the installation process last week and the ice will remain until July 15.
"It was important for us to hold camp in downtown Johnstown to have the ability to showcase the city and the arena to our future recruits and their families" said Head Coach Mike Letizia.
"We have seen many great players pass through Johnstown in recent years and go on to have incredible collegiate and professional careers. So, we are very excited for these young recruits to have the ability to demonstrate their skills to the city and its fans, and prove they have what it takes to make a team that is coming off a Robertson Cup Playoff appearance just last season."
On Sunday, July 14, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., the remaining prospects will play in two All-Star Games that are open to the public and admission free. The camp is presented in working partnerships with the Johnstown-Cambria County Visiting Bureau (CVB), the Holiday Inn, Toyota and Krisay's.
The Tomahawks open the season on Friday, Sept. 13-14 with two games in Wilkes-Barre, PA. before returning to 1ST SUMMIT ARENA for their home opening weekend on Friday, Sept. 27-28 vs. the division-rival New Jersey Titans. To purchase season and group tickets please visit www.johnstowntomahawks.com.
