
Tomahawks Sweep Brown Bears with 3-1 Victory

JOHNSTOWN - The Johnstown Tomahawks used a shorthanded goal from Andrew Romano to defeat the Kenai River Brown Bears 2-1 and seal a weekend sweep Saturday night at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena.
The Brown Bears cracked the scoreless tie when Miro Lehtimaki pounced on a rebound opportunity to beat Tomahawks goalie Ryan Glander for his first goal of the season
Ryan Burr knotted things up at 1 at 18:43 of the first period. Anthony Parrucci and Adam Pilewicz assisted on Burr's fifth goal of the season.
Later, in the second period, Romano would give Johnstown the lead with a short-handed breakaway goal at 17:40. The unassisted goal was Romano's ninth of the campaign.
The Tomahawks added another goal late in the third period with a Kelly O'Brien one-timer goal. Brendan Jaquay and Dante Suffredini registered the assists.
Ryan Glander earned his fifth win of the season, moving his record to 5-3-0. Nicholas Nast picked up the loss for his fifteenth consecutive loss on the season.
Johnstown returns to the Cambria County War Memorial Friday Jan. 8 and Saturday, Jan. 9 for a weekend series with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Saturday is Face-Off against Cancer night where the Tomahawks are wearing specialty jerseys. For tickets, visit the War Memorial box office.
