JOHNSTOWN - A three-goal second period lifted the Johnstown Tomahawks to their 14th consecutive win with a 5-2 victory over the Northeast Generals Friday evening.

The Tomahawks gained the game's first goal late in the first period on the power play when Cam Hebert knocked in a Oliver Benwell rebound past Generals goalie Marko Sturma. Carson Brière picked up the secondary assist on Hebert's 11th of the season.

Northeast tied the game at 1-1 after they capitalized on a Tomahawks turnover. Clark Kerner scored the goal with Aurel Naus assisting on his fourth of the season.

With 13 seconds remaining in the first, the Generals went up 2-1 with a goal from John Jaworski, his third of the season.

However, much like in game's past, the Tomahawks fought back in the second period.

Just 1:14 into the frame, Pavel Kharin's wrist shot found a home past Sturma to tie the game at 2-2. Brière and Alex Wilkins picked up the assists.

Brière scored a goal of his own on the power play a little over two minutes later when his shot beat Sturma five-hole to put the Tomahawks back into the lead 3-2.

Johnstown wasn't finished as Owen Arfstrom's shot from the left point trickled behind new General netminder Dave Fessenden to put the team in front 4-2 heading into the second intermission.

The Tomahawks, in the third period, set the final score at 5-2 when Roman Kraemer scored a highlight reel goal past Fessenden. Sam Solensky picked up the assist.

Johnstown returns to complete its homestand on Saturday, November 24 against the Northeast Generals at 7 p.m.
