Tomahawks Take 3 of 4 Points Against Black Bears

Two Hawks Earn Division Star Honorable Mentions

The Tomahawks return from a road trip to Odenton, Maryland, where they faced the Maryland Black Bears

On Friday, the Tomahawks special teams had the game in their hands, as Maryland had the opportunity to close out the game on the power play for the remaining 1:43 in regulation, but Johnstown's penalty kill held strong to take home the 3-2 win.

Saturday's contest went into overtime, but did not end in Johnstown's favor. The Tomahawks still earned 1 point from the contest, giving them 3 of 4 on the road. This kept the Tomahawks in 2nd place, ahead of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton by 3 points in the East Division.

Christian Gorscak logged his 2nd straight game winner in Friday's contest, and Spencer DenBeste continued his offensive hot streak over the weekend, and now has 7 points in the last 6 games.

David Tomeo was in net for both games. On Friday, he stopped 22 of 24 shots. On Saturday, Tomeo was barraged by the Black Bears offense, but he managed to keep the Tomahawks in the game until the end, stopping 53 of 55 shots.

Forward Christian Gorscak and goaltender David Tomeo earned honorable mentions from the NAHL in the latest Bauer East Division Star of the Weeek report.

Congratulations are due to forwards Sean Bauchens and Jason Tynan. Bauchens logged his first goal of the season on Friday, and rookie Tynan scored his first career goal in Saturday's game.

TUESDAY'S WORD:

"This past weekend, as usual against Maryland, featured a lot of special teams play with a lot of extracurricular activity. It really becomes a mental warfare to stay within the game. We had some good moments with the power play, but also gave up a goal Friday via the PP against us, and then Saturday, a shorthanded goal against us, and then one in overtime.

It was disappointing leaving a point on the road in Maryland for us. David Tomeo played well in both games, and it was good to see Sean Bauchens get his 1st of the year Friday, and Jason Tynan's 1st NAHL goal Saturday.

We need to get both of our power play units clicking again and increase our scoring output. We have left goals ont he table while having a heavy advantage in scoring chances. If we can cash in on more opportunities, we feel we can maximize our point totals much more efficiently."

- Mike Letizia, Head Coach

IN THE COMMUNITY

Fans Help Tomahawks with Womens Help Center Donation

A special thanks goes out to our fans for their support on Sunday, October 27th at the "Undies Sunday Toss" game.

After forward Drew Murphy scored his first career goal, fans showered the ice with packages of new underwear, which were donated to the local Womens Help Center.

We were able to donate four garbage bags full of underwear, which were in high demand by the center and their clients.

Thank you, Hawks Nation, for helping us make an impact in our community!
