Titans Win Thriller Against Philadelphia Wings, 15-12

New York - February 8, 2009 -- The New York Titans (4-3) professional indoor lacrosse team, tonight battled back from a 8-3 deficit at half time to score ten goals in the second half of the game to take a thrilling 15 -12 come from behind victory over their rival Philadelphia Wings (2-4) at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Casey Powell, Brendan Mundorf and Mike McLellan each had hat tricks on the night. Ryan Boyle and Pat Maddalena each added two goals to the Titans victory. Jarrett Park and Jamie Rooney completed the Titans scoring with a goal each.
Team Captain Casey Powell continued his exceptional play with one goal in the first quarter followed by two in the second and three assists on the night. One of Powell's assists came when he fed teammate Ryan Boyle early in the third quarter for a goal adding to the Titans impressive second half scoring. Boyle scored his second goal just minutes later in the third putting the Titans up on the Wings 9-8. Boyle truly had a breakout evening assisting on two goals with Casey Powell and Mike McLellan and one of Brendan Mundorf's three goals. Mundorf caught fire in the second half of the game scoring a hat trick on six shots and assisting Jamie Rooney and Mike McLellan with their second half goals too. Pat Maddalena was yet another Titan player to keep an eye on with an early first quarter goal to tie the game at two and the final and 15th goal on the evening in the fourth quarter with assists from Keevin Galbraith and Patrick Merrill.
If loose balls win games, then Titans defensive players Jarett Park, who scooped up 14, Greg Peyser, who vacuumed up 10 and little brother Stephen Peyser played a major role in the Titans win this evening. Also of note was the impressive play of Titans goalie Erik Miller who made 28 saves on 32 shots after substituting for starting goalie Matt Vinc.
