Titans To Hold Inaugural Open Tryout

ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 14) -- The Orlando Titans, Florida's first professional lacrosse team, will host the inaugural Lacrossewear Open Tryout Camp for prospective players on Nov. 7-8 at Barber Park in Orlando.

Participants will have a chance to showcase their skills through a series of drills and game situations under the watchful eye of Titans Head Coach Ed Comeau and his staff. Each athlete will participate in one of three, two-hour sessions on Nov. 7. The Saturday tryout will serve as the preliminaries, while Sunday's workout will be by invitation only and will be based on the results of the Saturday tryout.

Top athletes from the tryout camp will be competing for pre-season roster spots and an opportunity to attend the Titans Training Camp which kicks off Nov. 21-22 in Orlando. The tryout camp is being sponsored by Lacrossewear, the manufacturer of state-of-the-art team uniforms and sports apparel for the modern day athlete.

A tryout fee of $75 will be charged to each participant. The fee includes a Friday night informational session about the National Lacrosse League and the indoor game, game instruction from Titans coaches, the two-hour tryout session and an official Orlando Titans/Lacrossewear tryout jersey. Athletes will be required to bring their own equipment, including helmet, sticks, gloves, and pads. Participants will also be required to sign an injury waiver prior to the tryout.

Pre-registration for the tryout is required and a registration form can be found at www.orlandotitans.com. Interested players can also register over the phone or receive additional information by calling Nathan Snyder, Director of Lacrosse Development and Operations at 407-601-6516.

Out-of-town participants are encouraged to stay at the Courtyard Marriott at 730 N. Magnolia Ave. in Orlando. A block of rooms has been set aside at a special $69 room rate for camp participants and reservations are being accepted at 407-996-1014. The hotel will be the site of Friday night's introduction and information clinic.

The Tryout Camp is part of the Titans continuing commitment to lacrosse development in the state of Florida at both the professional and amateur levels. 'We believe there are a number of talented lacrosse players that reside in and around the state of Florida and who may possess the ability to compete at the highest professional level," Titans President Steve Donner said. "This tryout camp provides an opportunity for these players to display their skills and abilities in front of the Titans coaching staff."

When and where is The Titans Tryout Camp?

The Titans Tryout Camp is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7-8 at Barber Park in Orlando, FL. Barber Park is located in the Conway area of Orlando at 3701 Gatlin Ave., Orlando, FL 32812.

Where Can I Stay?

Out of town athletes are encouraged to stay at Courtyard Marriott Hotel, 730 N. Magnolia Ave., Orlando, FL (407) 996-1014. As a Titans Sponsor, the Courtyard Marriott is extending a special $69 room rate to all camp participants. The hotel is also the site of Friday night's Information and Instruction Meeting.

What is the Camp Schedule?

An information and instruction meeting will be held at the Courtyard Marriott at 7:30 p.m. Although not mandatory, this meeting will provide important information about both the NLL and Tryout Camp. Each participant will be assigned to participate in one tryout session on Saturday, Nov. 7. Times for these two-hour sessions are 12 Noon-2 p.m., 2 p.m.-4 p.m., and 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Based on the results of Saturday's tryouts, a final tryout session will be held on Sunday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. - Noon. Sunday's tryout will be by invitation only.

May I participate in more than one session on Saturday?

No. The sessions are exactly the same and the two-hour session will give ample time for the Titans coaching staff to evaluate you as a player.

May I select what session I want to attend on Saturday?

You may request to be placed in either the first or second session and the Titans will do everything possible to accommodate that request but cannot guarantee a spot in the desired time slot. The third session will be held only if there is sufficient demand for it.

Can I register the day of the event?

For various reasons, you should pre-register to participate in the Titans Tryout Camp. You may register on-line at www.orlandotitans.com or by calling the Titans office at 407-601-6516. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Nov. 4.

What Equipment Do I Need to Bring?

Each participant is responsible to bring there own equipment to the Tryout, including helmet, pads, stick, gloves and proper footwear. No equipment will be provided by the Titans.

Why is there a Tryout Fee?

The Tryout Fee is helps the Orlando Titans off-set the cost of the Camp, including facility rental, athletic trainer, etc.

If I do well do I make the Titans team?

During the tryout camp, you are competing to earn a position on the Titans Pre-Season Roster. Players on the pre-season roster will be invited to participate in the Titans Training Camp, which begins Nov. 21-22 in Orlando. In training camp, you will be participating for a spot on the Titans Regular Season Roster or Practice Squad.
