Cedar Rapids River Kings News Release

Cedar Rapids, IA - A young Cedar Rapids team didn't let the inexperience show as the Titans (1-0) took down the rival Green Bay Blizzard (0-1) 39-15 in Cedar Rapids on Saturday night.

After a scoreless first quarter, Indoor Football League rookie quarterback Dylan Favre found fellow rookie wide receiver Eric Thomas in the back of the end zone for the first score of game

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater alum Matt Behrendt took signal caller for the Green Bay Blizzard and he threw his first IFL touchdown to Greg Betterson with just under ten minutes remaining in the first half. The Titans answered on a two-yard scamper by Ryan Balentine.

Cedar Rapids newcomer Waymon James scored his first touchdown as a Titan on a three-yard run in the four-minute mark of the second quarter before Green Bay answered with their final touchdown of the game, as Behrendt found wide receiver Markeith Summers on a 45-yard touchdown throw.

The final two Titans touchdowns came on four-yard and one-yard rushes by James. Titans linebacker Nikko Sierra returned a blocked extra point to put up an additional two points on the board for Cedar Rapids while kicker Nicholas Belcher added a 21-yard field goal.

The Titans are on the road next weekend, as they travel to South Dakota to take on the reigning IFL champion Sioux Falls Storm. Kickoff is at 7:05 p.m. from the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
