Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Titans have signed linebacker Norkeithus Otis, the team announced Monday afternoon. Otis (6'2, 235 lbs) joins the Titans after spending four years at the University of North Carolina.
"We look forward to having Norkeithus come to Cedar Rapids and compete for a roster spot," said Titans co-owner and general manager Chris Kokalis. "He will be a welcome addition to our defense."
As a senior at North Carolina, Otis was added to the 2014 Bednarik Award Watch List, an annual award given to the nation's top defensive player. He recorded 39 tackles, four sacks, and a team-high seven quarterback hurries over 11 starts.
His most productive season for the Tar Heels came during his junior year when he notched 49 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, seven-and-a-half sacks, three pass breakups and one intereception.
Otis looks to fill a void at the linebacker position after former Titans linebacker Nick Haag signed with Spokane as a Restricted Free Agent this offseason.
