Orlando Titans News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. (Dec. 29) -- The Orlando Titans have reached a broadcasting/marketing agreement with Bright House Sports Network (BHSN) for the cable station to televise a minimum of two of the team's home games during the 2010 National Lacrosse League season (NLL).
As part of the agreement, BSHN will televise the Titans 2010 season opening game against the Philadelphia Wings on Jan. 8. The game marks the first time a Florida-based professional lacrosse team will play a home game within the state's borders.
"This is an important agreement for us for several reasons," Titans President Steve Donner said. "Professional indoor lacrosse is not well known in this region and has received little exposure in the south. These broadcasts will help introduce the Titans and National Lacrosse League games to tens of thousands of potential new fans and will create awareness of our game. Secondly, this is an open-ended agreement that will afford the Titans additional exposure opportunities during the regular and post-season."
Under terms of the agreement, BHSN will produce a minimum of two live home games during the Titans inaugural season. The network is also guaranteeing a minimum of one replay of that live broadcast. BHSN will have the option of picking up the feed on several Titans road games during the 2010 campaign.
Although no additional road or home games have been confirmed, Donner believes the BHSN may be able to broadcast as many as five or six Titans games this season. "We'll work closely with BHSN and our opponents in making their road broadcasts available for broadcast in the Central Florida area and hope to make a future announcement within the next 30 days," Donner added.
The agreement provides Bright House Sports Network with exclusive rights to broadcast Titans games within the network's coverage area. BHSN reaches more than 1.6 million households in Florida encompassing Brevard, Citrus, Flagler, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lake, Manatee, Marion, Osceola, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Seminole and Volusia counties. It is seen in Orlando market on Bright House cable channel 47.
"We are pleased to introduce Bright House Networks' customers to the Orlando Titans and the National Lacrosse League," said Paul Kosuth, General Manager of Bright House Sports Network. "We look forward to a great season of showcasing the best lacrosse players in the world."
"We certainly appreciate the efforts of BHSN management in making this agreement possible," Donner added. "We are looking forward to working with them during the coming season and for years to come."
