Titans Re-Sign Jackson, Add Pass Rush Standout

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA : They say defense wins championships. Well if that is the case the Titans helped themselves in that department on Monday. The team announced the re-signing of two-time Titans Defensive Player of the Year and 2014 IFL sack leader Xzavie Jackson and addition of the defensive linemen Kyle Jenkins.
Jackson, entering his third season with the Titans and sixth season overall in the IFL, received all IFL honors in 2013, his 3rd appearance on an all-league team (1st-Team 2011, 2nd-Team 2012). Xzavie finished the season appearing in all 14 regular season games finishing the season with 55 tackles, 14 sacks, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 8 passes broken up. His 14 sacks led the IFL.
Jenkins joins the Titans after spending the past two seasons with the Chicago Slaughter. The former Northern Illinois Huskie finished the 2013 season with 42 tackles, 12 sacks, and 1 pass broken up. He finished the season second in the IFL sack department behind Jackson.
Both Jenkins and Jackson combined for a total of 26 sacks in 2013 which totals more than five IFL teams had for the entire season. They both will play key roles in the Titans defense led this season by former IFL linebacker Ameer Ismail who will serve as the Titans defensive coordinator. The Titans ranked 2nd in the IFL defensively in 2013.
The Titans open training camp for the 2014 season on Saturday.
The Titans 2014 home opener is Saturday, February 15 th at 7:05pm at Mediacom Field inside the US Cellular Center when the Titans welcome the IFL's newest team, the Bemidji Axemen. There will be activities for the entire family including live music, live performances, autograph signings, giveaways, special guest appearances, and much more.
