Orlando Titans News Release

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Powell scored four goals to lead the Orlando Titans to a 9-7 come-from-behind win over the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday night. The win, combined with Rochester's loss to Toronto, clinched the Eastern Division title for the Titans.

After falling behind 7-3 in the game, Orlando shutout the Bandits over the final 34 minutes of the game. Matt Vinc had 35 saves in the game.

Trailing 7-4 at the half, the third quarter would belong solely to the Titans. Ryan Boyle would cut the lead to 7-5 at 12:32 with his 19th goal of the season. Jordan hit a one-timer from Boyle to cut the lead to one at the 10:41 mark before Powell hit a long-range shot to tie it six minutes later.

Buffalo came out firing in the first period, out-shooting the Titans 17-11. Mark Steenhuis' power-play goal at the 12:55 mark gave the Bandits a 1-0 lead. The Bandits would make it 2-0 four minutes later when Kevin Dostie beat the Titans back to the defensive end and hit a bounce shot past Matt Vinc.

Casey Powell would draw the Titans to within one on his 34th goal of the season at the 6:25 mark of the first.

Orlando would get an equalizer at the start of the second period. Greg Peyser won the opening faceoff, picked up the loose ball and scored on a sensational beating Mike Thompson to his left side. Peyser would then give the Titans a 3-2 lead on a sensation shot, taking the ball behind the net and sticking it into the corner of the net.

The Titans momentum was short lived however. Steenhuis scored his second power play goal of the game and within a one minute period Brett Bucktooth and John Taveras added goals to make it 5-3 Buffalo at the 10:12 mark of the period.

A double minor penalty on Tim O'Brien resulted in two more Buffalo goals to up the lead to 7-3 with 4:13 remaining in the half. Powell would put a stop to the run on a nifty spin move and bounce shot at the 4:32 mark to make it 7-4.

The first half featured nine penalties on the Titans for 18 minutes with the Bandits converting four of five power plays in the half.

The Titans finish the regular season next week with a road doubleheader. The Titans take on the Philadelphia Wings on Friday night before traveling to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Swarm on Saturday.
