From there he played in Vernon, BC where he played for the Lakers of the BCJHL. When he turned pro Espo played in the ECHL, SHL, UHL, and EPHL before becoming a head coach.
He loves coaching in Danbury because of the tremendous fan support. His proudest achievement was winning a championship in Danbury in 2013.

His most bizarre hockey memory was of his juniors coach ordering a pizza for the penalty box because there were so many guys there!
