PACKING PARKVIEW: The Fort Wayne TinCaps sold out Parkview Field for the eighth time this season on Friday night. A crowd of 7,940 ranked 5th in all of Minor League Baseball. Three of the top 5 attendance figures were in Indiana, with the Indianapolis Indians ranking 2nd and the South Bend Cubs ranking 4th. The sellout crowd pushed the overall season total to 250,403 through 52 games. An average of 5,008 fans a night ranks 3rd among 60 teams at the High-A/Single-A levels. Last homestand, the 'Caps ranked sixth in Minor League Baseball total attendance from July 21-26, 2026, welcoming in 40,057 fans to Parkview Field for its third-largest six-game homestand in Parkview Field history.

BALZER DIALED IN: In his last home start on July 25 against Lake County, Fort Wayne right-hander Bryan Balzer tossed 5 scoreless innings, giving up one hit in his second start at Parkview Field. The Padres No. 5 prospect collected his first High-A win and has allowed just one run across his last 14 innings pitched (0.64 ERA) with a .167 BAA.

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER: Fort Wayne right-handers Carson Montgomery and Carlos Medina teamed up to toss the 19th one-hitter in franchise history in Thursday night's 3-0 victory. It's the second one-hitter spun by the 'Caps this season, with the other coming on June 23 at Lake County. Matthew Watson, Will Varmette and Braian Salazar accomplished the feat in the 6-2 win, the first one-hitter in franchise history where two runs or more were allowed. It was the first one-hitter for the TinCaps in 367 days, with the last one coming on June 21, 2025, at the Dayton Dragons. Both TinCap one-hitters in 2025 were against Dayton, with the previous being a 2-0 win on May 3, twirled by Isaiah Lowe and Harry Gustin.

THE AMAZING MONTY: TinCap starter Carson Montgomery turned in the first quality start of his career Thursday. The Padres No. 30 prospect hurled six scoreless innings, giving up one hit and two walks while striking out three. Thursday night marked the seventh time the 23-year-old logged five innings or more in a start this year, with five outings coming at Parkview Field. Montgomery returned to the hill for his first Minor League appearance in 718 days in the opening week of the season against Lansing on April 9, where he spun four scoreless innings.

MASTERFUL MEDINA: Fort Wayne reliever Carlos Medina tossed three perfect frames in relief to cap off the one-hitter on Thursday night. The 21-year-old retired all nine batters he faced in his first Minor League save. Punching out six, Medina struck out the side in the ninth. Medina also worked three scoreless frames last Wednesday at Great Lakes, working around three hits and two walks. The right-hander appeared in 17 games and made 13 starts with Single-A Lake Elsinore to begin 2026 before being promoted to Fort Wayne on July 15.

MAKE WAY FOR THE KING: TinCap catcher Lamar King Jr. blasted his fourth home run of the season in the 5th inning on Thursday. It was the first long ball for King Jr. since May 20 vs. Dayton, with half of his round-trippers this season coming at home. It was also his first extra-base hit since May 27. The 22-year-old came up clutch last Wednesday at Great Lakes, driving in a pair, including the go-ahead run on a base hit in the top of the 10th inning in a 5-4 win. It was the first multi-hit showing for King Jr. since June 20 vs. South Bend and the first multi-RBI showing since May 20. He now has a hit in 6 of his last 8 games.

JD JUST DOING IT: Fort Wayne shortstop Justin DeCriscio is batting .314 with 33 hits since July 3 (24 games). The 23-year-old launched his ninth home run of the season to get things going at the plate for Fort Wayne in the first inning of the July 26 series finale against Lake County. On Sunday, June 12, at West Michigan, DeCriscio went 3-for-5 with a 2B, HR, and a career-high 5 RBI. Following last Friday night's 2-for-5 effort, the former NC State Wolfpack now has 21 multi-hit games with Fort Wayne since being promoted on May 12, with seven of those being three-hit showings.
