Timbers2 Fall 3-2 at Home to Real Monarchs

PORTLAND, Ore. - Timbers2 scored a pair of early goals, but were unable to hold off a late rally from Real Monarchs, falling 3-2 at Providence Park on Sunday afternoon. Diego Gutiérrez notched his second goal for Portland this season, converting from the penalty spot.

Goal-Scoring Plays

POR- Own goal (Bobby Pierre), 5th minute: Working the ball down the left side of the field, Timbers2 delivered a cross from the left wing toward the back post for Nathan Fogaça. Real Monarchs' Bobby Pierre slid in attempting to clear the ball, directing it into his own net.

POR- Diego Gutiérrez (penalty kick), 12th minute: After winning the penalty kick, Diego Gutiérrez stepped to the spot and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal.

SLC - Bertin Jacquesson (penalty kick), 23rd minute: Just 10 minutes later, Monarchs earned a penalty kick. Jacquesson sent Portland goalkeeper Ryan Bilichuk the wrong direction before tucking his shot inside the left post.

SLC - Bertin Jacquesson (Darón Iskenderian), 75th minute: On the counterattack, Darón Iskenderian dribbled down the left side and delivered a cross in behind the Timbers2 backline. Jacquesson made a surging run into the box and finished in stride with a strike to the left post.

SLC - Terron Williams, 80th minute: Building out from the back, Terron Williams ran in behind Portland's defense. Timbers2 attempted to clear the ball in behind, but it took a deflection. Williams stayed with the play, dribbling into the box and converting from close range near the right post.
