Portland Timbers News Release

Timbers continue busy stretch with matches against LA, Colorado

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers face a second straight two-match week, playing against two Western Conference opponents. The Timbers travel to Southern California to take on the LA Galaxy on Wednesday at the StubHub Center at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific). Portland then plays host to the Colorado Rapids on Sunday in a nationally televised matchup at JELD-WEN Field on NBC Sports Network at 4 p.m. (Pacific).

Wednesday's match against the defending-MLS Cup champion Galaxy will be televised live on KPTV and in Spanish on EstrellaTV. Both fixtures this week will feature live radio broadcasts on 750 The Game and in Spanish on La Pantera 940 AM.

The Timbers (6-1-8, 26pts) enter the week in third place in the Western Conference, just two points back of conference-leader FC Dallas (28pts). Portland is on a 13-match unbeaten run - the longest unbeaten stretch in MLS this season - and is the only club in the league that is unbeaten away from home in 2013.

Portland takes to the road for the fourth time in its last five matches for Wednesday's matchup against LA. Through eight road matches, the Timbers feature the league's best road winning percentage (0.625) and have scored an MLS-best 14 goals away from home.

The Timbers and Galaxy (6-6-2, 20pts) meet for the first of three times during the regular season on Wednesday; the two clubs last met July 14, 2012, at JELD-WEN Field. LA holds the advantage in the all-time MLS series against Portland at 4-1-0. The Galaxy visit JELD-WEN Field for the remaining two matches in the season series on July 13 and Sept. 29.

The Timbers, who lead MLS in goal-scoring with 25 goals, return home for just their second regular-season home match during the month of June on Sunday. Portland has shut out each of its last five MLS opponents at JELD-WEN Field, recording a 480-minute home shutout streak.

Sunday marks the first of two visits by Colorado (5-5-5, 20pts) to the Rose City to play the Timbers. The two clubs played to a 2-2 draw on March 30 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park as Timbers midfielder Will Johnson recorded the first two-goal performance of his MLS career to help Portland overcome a two-goal deficit to earn a point on the road. The Timbers are 1-4-1 against the Rapids in the all-time MLS series, including a 1-1-0 record at JELD-WEN Field.
