Tigers Battle Back, Lose 7-6

LOWELL, MASS - The Connecticut Tigers came back from a 6-5 deficit in the ninth inning to tie the game up, however the Lowell Spinner walk-off on a wild pitch to win the middle game of the series,7-6. The win gives Lowell sole possession of first place in the Stedler Division.

Connecticut took the lead in the second, Josh Lester hit his first round tripper of the season, a solo shot over the right field fence, making it 1-0.

In the third inning the Spinners responded with a two spot on the scoreboard to take a 2-1 lead. CJ Chatham drove in a pair on a two-run single down the left field line.

The Spinners extended the advantage in the fourth inning with another two-run frame, making it 4-1 Spinners. Bobby Dalbec hit a 427 foot solo home run over the centerfield fence to highlight the fourth.

The Tigers mounted a two-out rally in the fifth inning to plate four run and take a 5-4 lead. Austin Athmann delivered an RBI single to center field making it 4-2 Spinners. After a walk to Pinero, the Spinners made a pitching change with the bases loaded and two outs. Josh Lester faced Pat Goetze and rolled a ground through the right side to score Bauml. The throw from Chris Madera got away from the catcher and rolled into the Spinners dugout, allowing Athmann and Pinero to score on the error.

The lead was short lived for the Tigers, Bobby Dalbec gave the lead right back to Lowell with a two-run shot to right field, his second home run of the night and first multi-homer game of the season. It was the first time this year the Tigers had given up two or more home runs to the same player.

The Tigers threatened in the eighth inning, loading the bases on two hits and an error. Jacob Robson came to the plate and grounded into a fielder's choice to shortstop to end the inning.

In the ninth the Tigers tied the ballgame up on an RBI single off the bat off Danny Pinero into right field, scoring Cole Bauml third and making it 6-6.

Lowell walked off in the bottom of the ninth inning on a walk off wild pitch scoring Matt McLean from the third.
