GREENVILLE, S.C., Feb. 4 – Guard Tierre Brown, who recently signed a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Hornets after beginning the season with the Charleston Lowgators, has been named the National Basketball Development League player of the month for games in January.

Prior to becoming the fourth NBDL-to-NBA "Gatorade Callup" when he signed with the Hornets on Jan. 26, the 6-foot-2, 189-pound product of McNeese State University averaged 18.3 points, 7.1 assists and 3.3 rebounds over eight games with the Lowgators in January.

Charleston was 7-1 in games Brown played in during the month. He has averaged 17.6 points, 6.9 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 21 games with Charleston this season, helping lead the Lowgators to the top of the current NBDL standings.
