Portland Thunder News Release
PORTLAND - The Portland Thunder welcome back two key members of their defensive line that have attributed for much of the team's success on that side of the football. Jake McDonough and Donte Paige-Moss are back and ready to make their returns to action this week.
With five games left in their first arena season, timing couldn't be better for the Thunder, who at 3- 10 are on the outside looking in on the National Conference playoff picture.
McDonough (6'5", 305, Iowa State) returns to #99 following an NFL camp invite from the New York Jets. It's the second time that Jake has been invited to join major league camps since he was signed last October. In his first five games with the Thunder, all starts, McDonough broke up two passes, made three tackles and was a major presence on a highly-touted defensive line.
Owner Terry Emmert on Jake's return: "There's a noticeable difference on our defensive line when Jake is in the line-up. He has such a presence in the middle and brings such a push, which enables our outside guys to attack the pocket and take away the option of a quarterback buying himself more time or running for yardage."
Paige-Moss (6'3", 273, North Carolina), the league's rookie sacks leader is roaring to fly around the end at imposing quarterbacks again. He started the first twelve games before taking a two-game absence. Donte racked up nine sacks, made 15 solo tackles, recovered seven fumbles, forced two more and was credited with three quarterback hurries.
"We're excited to have Donte back. He had the opportunity to return home to North Carolina and visit his one month-old baby daughter. Donte has returned to the team with a renewed vigor and energy. We're happy for Donte and excited to get him back on the field," said a team official.
The Thunder return to the Moda Center this Thursday, June 26th at 7:00pm to face the New Orleans Voodoo. Tickets are still available for all three remaining homes games and groups are encouraged.
