
Thunder to hold last practice before taking on Real Salt Lake

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Tueadsy, July 12, 2005)--The Minnesota Thunder will hold its last practice today at 4 p.m. at James Griffin Stadium in preparation for one of the most action-packed weeks in Minnesota soccer history. The Thunder will play four games in the next seven days, all during what is deemed "Soccer Week" in Minnesota with USA Cup taking place in Blaine.

vs. Real Salt Lake (MLS)
Wednesday, July 13, 7 p.m., James Griffin Stadium, St. Paul
-Fans have an opportunity to see soccer stars like Clint Mathis and Jason Kreis
-U.S. Open Cup match, Third Round
-Last year's open cup match against the San Jose Earthquakes (MLS) was quoted by head coach Buzz Lagos as the "greatest game in Thunder history."
-If the Thunder wins, it will host the Colorado Rapids (MLS) on August 4, 2005.
vs. Montreal Impact
Friday, July 15, 7 p.m., James Griffin Stadium, St. Paul
-This is the fans chance to be on national television. Fox Soccer Channel will be broadcasting the game LIVE from Griffin Stadium.
-American Family Insurance is giving away a FREE regulation size soccer ball to the first 1,000 kids in the stadium
-The Minnesota Youth Soccer Association is giving away FREE Thunder Stix to the first 1,000 fans in the stadium
vs. Rochester Raging Rhinos
Monday, July 18, 7:05 p.m., James Griffin Stadium, St. Paul
-Rochester and the Thunder have a rich history, meeting in the A-league finals three times in a row from 1998-2000.
-This game will be broadcast LIVE locally on Comcast channel 13.
vs. Dorados de Sinaloa (Mexican First Division)
Tuesday, July 19, 7:35 p.m., National Sports Center, Blaine
-This events marks the first time in Minnesota history that a full Mexican First Division team will play in the state.
-This is the first game the Thunder has played at the National Sports Center since moving to St. Paul in 2004.
