The 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup⢠has reached its final days of first round action this week as seven teams aim for the six remaining berths in the quarterfinals.
Honduras (1-0-1, 4 Points) and Panama (1-0-1, 4 Points) will not only play for a spot into the Gold Cup's "Final Eight" at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida on Tuesday, 12 July, but will also be aiming for the possible Group A title. Also on Tuesday at the Orange Bowl, two other teams with a chance to reach the quarterfinals through Group A will meet when Colombia (0-2-0, 0 Points) plays Trinidad & Tobago (0-0-2, 2 Points).
Costa Rica (2-0-0, 6 Points) and USA (2-0-0, 6 Points), the first two teams to secure their places into the "Final Eight," will meet for the Group B crown at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts on Tuesday. In the other Group B encounter at Gillette Stadium, Canada (0-2-0, 0 Points) and Cuba (0-2-0, 0 Points) search for their first victory that could also give them a ticket into the quarterfinals as one of the best third-placed teams.
With the elimination of Guatemala (0-2-0, 0 Points) the way has been opened for the remaining three teams in Group C for a spot into the Gold Cup Quarterfinals. South Africa (1-0-1, 4 Points) will play Guatemala at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, 13 July, while later, the defending CONCACAF Gold Cup⢠champions Mexico (1-1-0, 3 Points) face Jamaica (1-0-1, 4 Points).
The top two from each group, along with the best two third-placed teams will compete in the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup⢠Quarterfinals taking place on Saturday, 16 July (two games in Foxboro), and Sunday, 17 July (two games in Houston).
The 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup⢠semifinals and final are scheduled for Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Thursday, 21 July and Sunday, 24 July, respectively.

2005 FIFA UNDER-17 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
CONCACAF TEAMS TO KNOW THEIR FATE THIS WEEKEND
CONCACAF qualifiers Costa Rica, Mexico and USA will know their fate when FIFA stage the draw for the 2005 FIFA Under-17 World Championship in Chiclayo, Peru on Saturday, 16 July.
The 16-team tournament will have four groups of four taking place in four venues in Peru, Chicaylo, Piura, Trujillo and the capital Lima, from 16 September - 2 October.
The USA and Mexico advanced to the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship as the winners of the CONCACAF Final Round Groups A and B, respectively, while Costa Rica qualified after defeating Honduras in a home-and-away playoff series last week.

HAITI WINS 2005 COPA DE LAS ANTILLAS
Haiti's Under-20 team won the 2005 Copa de las Antillas after defeating the host Dominican Republic 1:0 at the Parque del Este in Santo Domingo on 10 July, while Puerto Rico finished third at the quadrangular tournament with a 3:2 victory over Dominican Republic's Under-17 team. COMPLETE STORY
The Copa de las Antillas title returns to Haiti for the first time since 2002, when the Under-23 squad won the event in Port-au-Prince.
The Dominican Republic's U-20 team won the first tournament in 2001 in Santo Domingo, while Villa Clara of Cuba and Cuba's U-20 squad claimed the titles of 2003 and 2004, in Zuleta and Santo Domingo, respectively.

MILBRETT SCORES HER 100TH GOAL AS USA TOPS UKRAINE IN FRIENDLY
Tiffeny Milbrett scored her 100th career goal with the USA women's team as they topped visiting Ukraine 7:0 in an international friendly at the Harry A. Merlo Field in Portland, Oregon on 10 July.
Along with Milbrett's goal, Danielle Fotopoulos had two tallies, while Kristine Lilly, Heather O'Reilly, Aly Wagner and Christie Welsh all scored for the stars & stripes in the victory.
The USA will now host Iceland at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California on 24 July.
