Akron Racers News Release

Big hits in the fourth and seventh innings doomed the Akron Racers as they fell to the first place Texas Thunder 8-1 on Sunday night at Firestone Stadium. First baseman Nicole Trimboli scored the Racers only run while going two-for-three with a triple.

Down 5-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Trimboli, the Custom Sports Imprints Player of the Game, lined a hard triple into deep right field and scored on an errant throw by the Thunder right fielder to put the game at 5-1.

Thunder loaded the bases in the top of the fourth with a leadoff single by catcher Ryan Realmuto, which was followed by a pair of walks off of Racers reliever, Radara McHugh. With one out, Texas centerfielder Kristen Zaleski hit a single that was misplayed by the Racers leftfielder, which allowed four runs.

In the seventh inning, Thunder pitcher Lindsay Chouinard hit a three-run double to lift Texas to an 8-1 lead over the second place Racers.

Racers starting pitcher Brandee McArthur allowed two runs on six hits in three innings, as she picked up her third loss of the season. McHugh pitched four innings of relief, striking out six and allowing five earned runs on five hits.

Chouinard gave up six hits and one run in her complete game effort. Her record improves to 3-2.

The Racers versus Thunder series continues with games on Monday and Tuesday at Firestone Stadium. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m. For Akron Racers ticket and game information, call 330-376.8188 or log on to www.akronracers.org.
