Rockford Thunder News Release
ROCKFORD - The Rockford Thunder has signed pitcher Megan Brown, team General Manager Aaron M. Moore announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.
Brown, 23, played her college ball at Florida Southern College where she was a three-time All-American for the Moccasins. While at FSC, Brown became the school's all-time leader in several categories, including wins (124), ERA (0.69) and strikeouts (997).
"Words cannot express my gratitude or excitement. This is the realization of a dream I have been praying over and pursuing since I saw a fastpitch game for the first time at the 1996 Olympics in Columbus, Georgia," stated Brown. "I am so very grateful that God has given me the support, the talent, and opportunity to realize my dream."
"We were impressed with Megan's work in the circle during the tryouts," said Moore. "We saw her throw last season as a member of the Michigan Ice and it was obvious she put in some work to raise her game to the next level."
Brown becomes the third overall player the Thunder has signed out of its open tryouts. Last season both Jamie Davison and Noelle Adams were signed by the Thunder after competing in the tryouts.
