Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - Stockton has added defenseman Erik Eaton and center Vin Hellemeyer to their start up roster.
Eaton spent last season with the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL, accumulating 61 penalty minutes, while tallying both a goal and an assist. Eaton is a native of Larchmont, New York. He played four years at Bowling Green State University before turning professional at the end of the 2003-2004 ECHL season, where he played eight games for the Cincinnati Cyclones. In Stockton, he will be reunited with former Bowling Green and Cincinnati teammate Brian Escobedo who signed with the Thunder last week.
Hellemeyer, a native of Franklin Square, New York, spent last season playing for the Topeka Tarantulas of the Central Hockey League. Hellemeyer scored nine goals and had 18 assists for a total of 27 points in his 52 games played. Prior to turning pro last season, he played four years at Yale University.
Both players garnered the attention of Head Coach Chris Cichocki because of their ability to contribute on both offense and defense.
"Erik is very versatile," Cichocki said of Eaton. "His ability to play both forward and defense is huge for us. He also brings a physical presence and has a great work ethic that every coach loves."
"Vin is an intelligent, two-way forward that will be committed to win every night," Cichocki added about Hellemeyer. "He has a style that will enable him to play in all situations."
Season tickets for the upcoming Thunder season are on sale now. Tickets for the home opener can currently be purchased as part of a full or mini season package.
