
Thunder Netminder Max Strang Named Easton Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (November 19, 2013) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced rookie goaltender Max Strang of the Bloomington Thunder is the Easton Player of the Week for November 11-17.
Strang backstopped the Thunder to a pair of wins over league-leading Louisiana, posting a 2.40 goals against average and a .940 save percentage for the weekend.
On Friday, the Gilbertsville, PA native made 36 saves, including seven in overtime, as Bloomington scored with just 12 seconds remaining in the extra period to defeat Louisiana 3-2. Strang came back strong on Saturday, stopping 42 of 45 shots as the Thunder rallied from a third-period deficit to beat the IceGators 5-3.
Strang played his collegiate hockey at Mercyhurst University, posting a career record of 30-29-6 with a 2.81 goals against average and a .918 save percentage. He was named the team's Most Valuable Player following his junior season and led the country in assists by a goaltender (4) his senior season. While at Mercyhurst, Strang majored in intelligence studies and Russian studies.
