Thunder in quest of fifth straight win

OREM, Utah - The Utah Valley Thunder, who haven't lost since the first game of the season, will look for their fifth straight win when they host the New Mexico Wildcats (1-4) Monday night at 7 p.m. at the McKay Events Center located on the campus of Utah Valley University.

The Thunder lost their season-opener to Wyoming on March 23, but have since reeled off wins over New Mexico twice and Ogden twice since. They currently stand one game behind first-place Wyoming in the American Indoor Football Association Western Division standings.

Utah Valley quarterback Mike Affleck needs just 22 yards to go over 1,000 yards for the season. He has completed 89-of-136 passes for 978 yards and 19 touchdowns. He has been intercepted just five times.

Wide receiver Jeff Johnson leads a trio of Thunder receivers who have at least 20 catches with 33 for 355 yards and five scores, while Akamu Aki has 21 catches for 242 yards and nine touchdowns and Quincy Jackson, who has played in just two games, has 20 catches for 202 yards and four touchdowns.

Utah Valey running back Sete Aulai is leading the league in rushing with 37.6 yards a game.

The Wildcats, who haven?t won since beating Ogden on March 23, are lead by quarterback B.J. Hall, who has completed 75-of-147 passes for 916 yards and 19 touchdowns. He has also been intercepted five times. Lawrence Pullen has a team-high 30 catches for 347 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Utah Valley beat Ogden 55-17 in its last contest while New Mexico comes in following a 58-16 loss to Wyoming.
