Bloomington, IL - The Bloomington Thunder kick off a home and home with the Madison Capitols Saturday evening at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum at 7:00 pm CST. Bloomington is in fifth place with a record of 21-20-7 and Madison is right behind them at 19-17-10. Madison has two games in hand on the Thunder as both teams fight for the final playoff spot in the United States Hockey League's Eastern Conference.
The game is Method Sports Performance Paws, Pucks, and Popcorn night. Get a voucher from local businesses in the Bloomington/Normal area or print one from the Thunder's social media outlets to get $7 tickets to the game with a free popcorn. Redeem the voucher at the box office to take advantage of this offer.
Also bring dog food, toys, and cleaning supplies to donate to the Wishbone Canine Rescue. The shelter will have dogs at the game and adoption applications will be available on the concourse. Call (309) 434-2980 for tickets or information.

This will be the third meeting between the expansion teams with Bloomington holding both a 4-2 and a 5-1 win over the Capitols. The Thunder are led by Assistant Captain Matt Mendelson (Penn State University) who has 33 points (12g, 21a). Bloomington picked up a win in their last game on March 1st over the Chicago Steel 3-2. Logan Halladay (University of Minnesota) earned the win with 25 saves and has seen action in the last three games.
The Capitols are still led in points by Will Johnson (Dartmouth College) who suffered a season ending injury after just 30 games played and 36 points (9g, 27a). Behind Johnson is Mitch Hults who has 30 points (12g, 18a) in 45 games played. Goaltender Darren Smith (Ferris State University) has seen the workload in the last month, playing in seven of the team's eight games and going 2-3-2 in the stretch. In their last meeting the Thunder topped the Caps 5-1 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum and chased Smith from the game after 35 minutes of play and three goals against.

Bloomington welcomes the United States National Team Development Program for the first time in Bloomington.
