Thunder Camp Report: March 5

March 5, 2014 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Portland Thunder News Release

PORTLAND, OR - The Thunder defense won the day again in training camp, applying pressure on the rookie quarterbacks and woofing at the offensive line. By the end of practice, however, the offense responded by scoring a few touchdowns and finding success on plays.

"It was a very spirited practice," said Head Coach Matthew Sauk. "Our defense has been really solid. The energy never falls. Offensively, we had a little bit of a down day yesterday, but today we bounced back."

Part of the difficulty for the offense came from the defensive line, which the coaching staff believes to be a big strength of the team due to players' versatility.

"TJ [Fatinikun], Ayo [Idowu], KC [Obi]...they've all really played well at Mac and end. That's surprising that the guys can go from one to the other so well," said Offensive/Defensive Line Coach Clay Harrell. "They really don't lose anything when they change positions."

The Portland Thunder will kick off its inaugural season at the Moda Center on Monday, March 17th when they take on the San Jose SaberCats. Season tickets are available for purchase starting as low as $99 by calling 503-773-4AFL or by visiting www.portlandthunder.com.
