Mahoning Valley Thunder News Release
BOARDMAN, Ohio- The Mahoning Valley Thunder is pleased to announce that Cory Meleisea has been assigned to the 2008 roster by the arenafootball2 League Office. WR/LB Meleisea (6-1, 205) spent the 2007 season as a member of the af2's expansion Tri-Cities Fever.
After joining Tri-Cities mid season, Meleisea made an immediate impact. A two way player, Meleisea saw action in six regular season games recording 2 receptions for 11 yards offensively, and tallying 7 solo tackles for the playoff bound Fever. A native of New Zealand, Cory played collegiatley at Kelston College. Meleisea becomes the first International player in Thunder team history. Per af2 rules, each team can carry two international players on the inactive roster, and may have 20 players on the active roster if one player is of international status. (The normal active rosters consist of 19 players.)
"Cory is a guy with excellent size who we can move around the field offensively and defensively," Thunder Head Coach Mike Hold said. "He has experience in all three phases of the game (offense, defense, special teams) so we expect for him to contribute in a variety of ways."
The Mahoning Valley Thunder opens the season at home Saturday March 29th on Cortland Banks Field inside the Chevrolet Centre. Be a part of all the action in 2008 as the Thunder continues their climb towards the ArenaCup9 Championship. Season ticket prices start as low $96 dollars and are on sale now.
