Dallas Vigilantes News Release

TULSA, OK- Completing their third sweep of the season, the Dallas Vigilantes improve to 9-5 with a 55-48 victory over divisional rival Tulsa Talons (6-8) tonight at the BOK Center. Vigilante quarterback Dan Raudabaugh was impressive yet again, going 24 of 37 for 261 yards and seven touchdowns.

Dallas converted its first possession of the game into six points, as Raudabaugh found receiver Tiger Jones for his 32 touchdown of the year on a four-yard strike in the back of the end zone.

But it would not take long for quarterback Justin Algood and the Talon offense to strike back, knotting the game up at seven a piece in their first possession.

Keeping it the usual arena-style shootout, Vigilante defensive back Chris LeFlore took the rock to the house for a 55-yard kick return for a touchdown, the first of the season for Dallas. And after an impressive three-and-out forced by the Vigilante defense in the ensuing Talon drive, Raudabaugh capitalized with a one play scoring drive, throwing a 10-yard strike to receiver Matt Fields to put Dallas up, 21-7 with 1:53 left in the first quarter.

The second quarter saw a little less action than the first, but Dallas was able to maintain its multiple-possession lead, as Fields would score on a quick goal line slant to put the Vigilantes up, 35-14. Tulsa fought back to the Vigilante red zone, but Dallas would shut the Talons down yet again in the waning seconds of the half, preserving the halftime score at 35-14.

Tulsa opened the second half with a three-play, 39-yard drive that would end with a one-yard draw to back up quarterback Mat Bassuener. The Bassuener touchdown cut the Dallas lead to 35-21 with 13:10 to go in the third quarter.

Dallas answered back in a hurry, though, taking a five-play, 35-yard drive of its own, capped off with an eight-yard slant to Jones for a touchdown. With 9:13 left in the quarter, a missed PAT by kicker Remy Hamilton slated the score at 41-21. After a Talon touchdown, Tulsa defensive back J.C. Neal brought more good fortune to his team, intercepting Raudabaugh with under

five minutes to go. The turnover set up a nine-yard touchdown reception to receiver Troy McBroom, shaving the Vigilante lead to 41-34.

But Raudabaugh and the Vigilante offense came with a vengenace to begin the fourth quarter. At the 13:53 mark, Raudabaugh found Jones on a 41-yard bomb to the end zone. And with the Dallas defense forcing the Talons to go four-and-out, the Vigilante offense took over on the Tulsa 10-yard line. From there, Raudabaugh found Jones again in the end zone, this time on another eight-yard reception. The touchdown would set the score at 55-34, Dallas, with eight minutes left in the game.

Another Talon touchdown cut Dallas' lead to 55-41. And with under a minute to go, the Talons creeped even closer with a touchdown reception by receiver Brandon Copeland. But a costly turnover by Raudabaugh gave the Talons even more life. With 30 seconds to go in the game, Allgood and the Tulsa offense retained possession, down only by seven points.

At fourth down and eleven with seven seconds to go, Vigilante defensive backs Keon Perry and Chris Brown combined to make clutch play, batting the ball away from Mcbroom to save a touchdown, preserving the Dallas win by a score of 55-48.

The victory gives Dallas at least a two-game cushion for the National Conference's third playoff seed, and for the moment, puts the Vigilantes at the heels of the Central Division-leading Chicago Rush.

Next up for the Vigilantes is a 7:30 p.m., home date with the Philadelphia Soul (5-9) on Saturday, July 2. The Vigilantes are currently undefeated versus teams with a percentage of under .500 this season.
