Rochester Lancers News Release

(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers today announced three significant new additions to the

2014-15 roster. Bolstering the squad this season will be indoor scoring sensation Carlos Munoz, creative defender Seamus Sharkey, and Brazilian superstar goalkeeper Marcelo Moreira.

Munoz, 26, joins the Lancers as he enters his third year in the league. The speedy forward from Montevideo, Uruguay started his indoor career with Chicago as a rookie in 2012-13. Seeing action in 25 games, he recorded four three-point goals, 21 two-point goals, and eight assists. Munoz's 62 points earned him the league's All-Rookie Honors and Rookie of the Year runner up. Last season, under legendary Wave and US National Futsal Team Head Coach Keith Tozer, he again finished top ten in overall scoring with 19 total goals, six assists, and 49 total points. With the return of Mauricio Salles and Andrew Hoxie, look for the Lancers to top the league's scoring charts this season as Munoz joins newcomer Marco Terminesi up top.

With the retirement of former Lancers player Troy Cole, 24 year old Seamus Sharkey looks to make an immediate impact this season as a defender. The crafty, Isle of Man native, has represented both Isle of Man and Ireland at the national team level. He also spent four seasons with Derry City FC from 2006-2010. Sharkey came to Rochester to attend MCC in 2011. He won NJCAA All-American awards and NSCAA All-American awards both years with the team. He made a significant impact on Head Coach Doug Miller, as he trained with the Lancers first team at the end of the 2013-14 season and has been signed to a three year contract with the team.

Adding important depth this season to the goalkeeping position, the Lancers signed Brazilian star Marcelo Moreira. Moreira brings big time experience to the Lancers this season and has played for top division Brazilian clubs for 15 years. He played for S.E. Palmeiras from 1992-2000, alongside Brazilian stars Cafu (the most internationally capped male Brazilian player), Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, and Marcos. While at Palmeiras, Moreira played under Head Coach Luis Felipe Scolari (Head Coach of Brazilian National Team in 2014 World Cup). Some accolades include: League Champion in 1992 and 1993, South American Champion in 1999, which gave opportunity to play against the champion of Champions League, which was Liverpool. Since 2001, he continued to play in Brazil's top division, played in the Copa de Brazil, and in 2013, played in the Jewish Olympic Games representing the Jewish-Brazilian National Team.

Lancers season tickets are currently on sale. They are available for $150 each, for any available seat in the Blue Cross Arena! Individual ticket sales will be released in October. For more information, or to order tickets, visit www.RLancers.com.
