July 3, 2003 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
San Angelo Saints News Release

SAN ANGELO – The San Angelo Saints today announced that they have added three new players to the team's current roster as rookie forwards Jonathan Parker, Brett Cross and Rob Frost have been signed for the 2003-04 season. The Saints now have 8 players officially signed for the upcoming season.

Parker is a 6-3, 225 pound winger from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He played the last two seasons for the Selkirk Steelers of the Manitoba Jr. Hockey League. Last year he posted 35 goals and 53 assists for 88 points in 55 games played. The previous season he had 106 points (58 goals, 48 assists) in 65 games played to earn the team's MVP honors.

A native of Glenavon, Saskatchewan, Cross played on the same line with Parker in Selkirk last season. The 6-2, 200 pound LW/center netted 35 goals and 48 assists for 83 points in 53 games played. He also garnered 222 penalty minutes as the team's top power forward and was an MJHL All-Star.

"The young players on our team will play a very important role for us this season," said Saints head coach Ray Edwards. "We will look for both of these guys to continue to develop their already impressive offensive skills. They are both big kids and will also give us a more physical presence on the ice that has been lacking."

Frost weighs in at 5-11, 195 pounds. He qualifies as a rookie despite beginning his professional career lat season with a short stint in Elmira of the UHL. He finished the season with St. Pete/Winston-Salem of the ACHL where he posted 12 points (8 goals, 4 assists) in 13 games played and helped lead them into the playoffs. Born in Schomberg, Ontario, Frost played his college hockey at the University of Western Ontario.

"Rob got a taste of the professional game last year and now knows the level of commitment it takes to play at this level," said Edwards. "He will come to camp a more confident player and hopefully continue to put up the kind of numbers he did at the end of last season." Saints Training Camp is set to begin Oct. 6th with preseason exhibition games scheduled for Oct. 10th & 11th against Odessa. Season tickets remain on sale at the team's office at 3111 Knickerbocker Road and at the San Angelo Convention Center. For more information call 944-6253.
