Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

Grand Rapids, MI - The Arena Football League on Friday honored three members of the Grand Rapids Rampage during the 2002 ArenaBowl XVI awards ceremony in San Jose, California . Wide Receiver/defensive back Willis Marshall was chosen second-team All-Arena, lineman Israel Raybon was named to the league's All-Rookie Team, and fullback/linebacker Chris Ryan was named to the league's All-Ironman Team.

Marshall (5-10, 195, Youngstown State) used the 2002 season to establish himself as one of the Rampage's and AFL's most versatile athletes. The second-year player led Grand Rapids in catches (80), receiving yards (973), kickoff returns (41), return yardage (813), and all-purpose yards (1,819). In addition, Marshall finished fourth on the team in tackles (36) and third on the team in defended passes (10). Marshall was also a candidate for Ironman of the Year.

Raybon (6-5, 305, North Alabama) became the sixth Rampage player to be named to the league's All-Rookie Team in the team's five-year history. The former NFL lineman made an impact on both sides of the ball, but defensively is where he made his mark. In 13 regular season games, Raybon amassed 11 tackles, three sacks (T-2nd on team), and a team and league-high 13-quarterback hurries. Raybon was also a candidate for Rookie of the Year, Lineman of the Year, and Built Ford Tough Man of the Year.

Ryan (6-2, 300, Clark-Atlanta), who was honored with the Rampage's Coaches Award last month, broke his own single-season records in rushing attempts (39), yards (131), and touchdowns (12) during the 2002 season. The third-year player out of Clark-Atlanta University also added 25 tackles, six quarterback hurries, a force fumble, and a fumble recovery on defense.

The 2003 AFL season will kickoff in February on NBC Sports. Official game dates will be announced in late September. Rampage season ticket packages are currently available by contacting the Rampage offices at (616) 559-1871 or (888) 595-4878.
