August 19, 2002 – Chicago Rush WR/DB Dameon Porter, OL/DL James Baron, OL/DL John Moyer and OS Antonio Chatman had their outstanding 2002 seasons recognized at the Arena Football League's postseason awards banquet Friday night in San Jose.

Porter and Baron both were named to the league's first-team All-Arena squad, while Moyer was named to the second-team. Chatman was named to the All-Rookie team. Additionally, Porter was named to the AFL's All-Ironman team.

2002 marks the second consecutive season that Porter was voted to the first-team All-Arena squad and to the league's All-Ironman team. He again led the league in interceptions with 10 and set an AFL record with 22 interceptions over a two-year span. Porter finished the 2002 season with career-highs in tackles (43) and passes defended (22). Offensively, Porter caught 35 passes for 532 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Baron, the 2001 AFL Lineman of the Year, was named to the first-team All Arena squad for the fifth time in his six-year career. During the 2002 season, Baron recorded 18 tackles, three sacks, four passes defended and an interception.

Moyer, the Rush Lineman of the Year, received postseason recognition for the first time in his career. He led all Rush linemen by equaling his career-highs with 21 tackles and four sacks. He also recorded seven passes broken up, four forced fumbles and a safety, while helping to anchor an offensive line that only allowed three sacks all season, the fewest in the league.

Chatman was honored as the offensive specialist on the league's All-Rookie team. After being thrust into the starting role when Joe Douglass was lost for the season due to injury, Chatman went on to catch 74 passes for 1,068 yards and 23 touchdowns. He returned 72 kicks for 1,608 yards and three touchdowns, and finished the season third in the AFL in both all-purpose yards and kickoff return yards.

The Rush finished its 2002 season with a 10-6 overall record and an AFL semifinal loss at Arizona. Training camp for the 2003 season will open in January 2003 with the regular season scheduled to begin the first weekend in February.
