Three Players Named to NHL Central Scouting List

Andreas Nödl, Alex Kangas and John Murray are all listed on the NHL Central Scouting Bureau's final rankings of draft-eligible players for the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, June 24th in Vancouver. The final ranking features 210 skaters and 30 goaltenders in North America and the top 160 skaters and 18 goaltenders in Europe.

Nödl is a projected second round draft pick (60th overall). Nödl was the Stampede's leading scorer during the regular season, posting 59 points (29g, 30a) in 58 games. The St. Cloud State recruit has 10 points (2g, 8a) in nine playoff games. He was named to the 2006 USHL All-Star/Prospects Game where he was crowned MVP and fastest skater. Nödl was named USHL/Let's Play Hockey "Offensive Player-of-the-Week" on September 26th after recording a hat-trick in the Herd's home opener versus Lincoln.

Kangas is ranked 10th overall amongst North American goaltenders. The Rochester, MN native went 20-6-3 with a 2.15 GAA and a .930 save percentage during the regular season. His .930 save percentage is a franchise best. He also tied a franchise record for most shutouts in a season with three. In the playoffs, Kangas has posted a 2-1 record with a 3.67 GAA. He was named USHL Goaltender-of-the-Month for December after going 5-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA, a .970 save percentage and one shutout. He was also named USHL/LPH Defensive "Player-of-the-Week" twice, earning the honors on November 8th and December 19th. Kangas was also named to the 2006 USHL All-Star/Prospects Game and has committed to the University of Minnesota for the 2007-08 season.

Murray was ranked 22nd overall in the final rankings after posting a 23-7-1 record, a 2.14 GAA and a .930 save percentage during the regular season. His 2.14 GAA and .930 save percentage are both team records. During the post season, Murray has gone 4-2 with a 1.68 GAA, a .937 save percentage and two shutouts. He is one shutout shy of tying a USHL record for most shutouts in the playoffs. The Lancaster, PA native was named USHL "Goaltender-of-the-Month" for January after going 4-0-1 with a 1.95 GAA and a .943 save percentage. Like Kangas, Murray also tied a franchise record for most shutouts in a season with three. He was named USHL/LPH "Defensive Player-of-the-Week" on November 21st.

In its 30th year of operation, the NHL Central Scouting Service provides scouting and evaluation of draft-eligible players to NHL member clubs. Headed by NHL Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations Jim Gregory and Director of Central Scouting E.J. McGuire, NHL Central Scouting employs nine full-time and six part-time scouts throughout North America and works with Goran Stubb of the European Scouting Service and his staff of five full-time scouts to cover prospects playing throughout Europe. NHL Central Scouting and European Scouting Service will together see more than 3,000 games this season.

Game 1 of the Clark Cup Finals will take place tomorrow night (Saturday) in Des Moines at 7:35 PM. Games 2 and 3 of the best-of-five series will be in Sioux Falls on Wednesday, April 26th and Friday, April 28th. Game times are 7:05 PM and tickets are still available at the Arena Box Office.
