ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today the signings of right wing Jan Jas, forward Steve Crusco, and defenseman Jim Quilty.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Jas (pronounced "Yah-ss") is a native of Presov, Slovakia. He spent the past three seasons in the Central Hockey League (CHL) with the San Angelo Saints, and most recently the Fort Worth Brahmas. The veteran winger's seven year professional career has also included stints in the ECHL, Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL), Atlantic Coast Hockey League (ACHL), as well as playing overseas in Austria.

Crusco, 23, comes to the Vipers after four seasons at Merrimack College, where he was a teammate of another recent Vipers signee, Brendon Clark. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Cruso scored 47 points (21 goals, 26 assists) over 111 games at Merrimack, also amassing 51 penalty minutes.

"We welcome all three of these guys with open arms," said Vipers Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Jim Wiley. "They are all anxiously awaiting the start of the season, and we, likewise, are anxious for their arrival so that we can witness the special qualities and talents each will bring to the table."

Quilty, a Renfrew, Ontario native, joined the Oklahoma City Blazers of the CHL for 17 games in the 2002-03 season after a four-year career at the State University of New York-Potsdam. The 5-foot-11, 192-pound D-man played 35 games in 2003-04 in the World Hockey Association 2 with the Lakeland Loggerheads and the Miami Manatees.
