
Three Hokies Join Raging Tide

Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide News Release
OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME - A couple more familiar faces are returning to Old Orchard Beach, and they have a teammate in tow with them. Saige Jenco (2012) and Phil Sciretta (2013) from Virginia Tech are returning for their second season with the Raging Tide. In addition to them will be fellow Hokies teammate, Matt Dauby.
Jenco, a 5'10" outfielder from State College, PA, is returning to the Tide for his second season. He played high school baseball for State College where he excelled. He was named a preseason All-State Honorable Mention by ESPNHS coming into his senior year. He led the league in stolen bases during his junior and senior seasons while also being team captain, being named MVP and batting .430 as a senior. He redshirted his 2013 season at Virginia Tech, but has come out firing on all cylinders this season. Through 29 games, Jenco is batting .347/.507/.376 with 35 hits, 25 runs, 3 doubles, 10 runs batted in, 30 walks and 12 stolen bases on just 16 attempts. During his first season with the Tide, Jenco batted .253/.341/.267 in 25 games along with 19 hits, 14 runs, 10 walks and 15 stolen bases.
Also returning to the Tide, is a member of the 2013 team that made a run into the FCBL semifinals. Phil Sciretta, a 6'2" infielder/pitcher, is currently in his sophomore season for the Hokies. The Duxbury, MA native attended Noble and Greenough School where he played three years of varsity. He also played two years at Duxbury High. He compiled a whopping .476 career batting average, was named a league all-star five times, won the league MVP his sophomore season and captained the team during his senior year. The 2012 season was his best overall season. He hit .451 with 17 RBIs at the plate while amassing a 2.11 ERA and 51 strikeouts on the mound. He played sparingly during his freshman season for the Hokies, but has come back strong and been an important part of the team this season. Sciretta has hit .368 at the dish in 18 games and gone 2-1 in 10 appearances on the mound. For the Raging Tide last season, Sciretta hit .289 in 45 games (including playoffs) with 50 hits, 18 runs, 6 doubles, 1 homerun, 21 runs batted in, 17 walks and 5 stolen bases. He also made 4 pitching appearances during the regular season, pitching 4.1 innings and not allowing a single run.
The final member of the Hokies joining the Raging Tide is sophomore infielder, Matt Dauby. The Carmel, IN native attended Cathedral. Dauby played three years of varsity, helping to lead the team to a 104-9 overall record, winning three city championships and making two state title game appearances. He was named to the MaxPrep preseason first team all-state in 2012 and was the No. 1 ranked shortstop in Indiana by Prep Baseball Report. His senior season he was named to the Indianapolis Star's Super Team Roster. His freshman season at Virginia Tech was a productive one. He played in 39 games, starting 21 of them. He batted .247 with 20 hits, 9 runs, 2 doubles and 6 runs batted in. He has started 17 games for the Hokies as a middle infielder so far this season and batted .226/.305/.358 with 9 runs, 4 doubles, a homerun and 8 RBIs.
The Raging Tide's home opener is on June 4th at 7pm at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach against the Nashua Silver Knights.
