JACKSONVILLE - The Gladiators offense never found a rhythm Saturday night, as Cleveland fell to the Jacksonville Sharks 46-44 at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The Gladiators, who entered the game riding a three-game win streak, slip to 3-4 while the Sharks improve to 6-1 on the year.
In a game in which the two starting quarterbacks have combined to throw for 73,071 yards in their careers, John Dutton and Aaron Garcia threw for a combined 604 yards and 10 touchdowns on the night. Dutton finished 29-of-52 for 314 yards and four touchdowns, while Garcia completed 23-of-40 passes for 290 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions.
Ben Nelson led all receivers with 136 yards on 11 catches and three touchdowns. Chris Johnson and Brent Holmes grabbed 86 and 91 yards, respectively, but failed to reach the end zone. Dutton rushed one time for three yards and a score.
For the Sharks, Jomo Wilson and Dallas Baker each caught for over 100 yards, with Wilson hauling in seven catches for 116 yards and three touchdowns while Baker caught nine passes for 118 yards and two scores. Garcia also rushed for a touchdown in the win.
