Portland Thorns FC News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Thorns FC today announced that forward Hayley Raso has departed the club. Portland retains Raso's NWSL rights.
"The passion and energy that Hayley brought to this club will be missed and we appreciate all of her contributions over the past four seasons," said Gavin Wilkinson, general manager and president of soccer for Thorns FC.
During the 2019 season, Raso appeared in 14 matches (11 starts), tallying four goals in 1,041 minutes played. Raso made her fourth career appearance in an NWSL playoff match for Portland, logging 45 minutes against the Chicago Red Stars in the semifinals.
"I will be forever grateful to the Portland Thorns for taking a chance on me and allowing me to represent this amazing club for the last four years," said Hayley Raso. "I am incredibly proud to have been coached by Mark [Parsons], who developed me into the player I am today, as well as playing alongside some of the greatest players in the world.
"To the fans, I've never experienced anything like the love and support you show. Thank you for supporting me and letting me experience your immense passion week in and week out."
In four seasons with Portland, Raso played in 68 regular-season matches (46 starts), tallying 12 goals and seven assists. She was part of Thorns FC's 2016 team that won the NWSL Shield and also helped Portland win the NWSL Championship in 2017.
"Hayley has been an important player who has developed tremendously over the last four years," said head coach Mark Parsons. "I look forward to supporting her from a distance in her next step and hope we can welcome her back to Portland in the future."
