Thomson Named Grad of the Month

Calgary, Alberta -- The Western Hockey League, in conjunction with the Canada West Universities Athletic Association are pleased to announce that forward Ben Thomson of the University of Alberta Golden Bears has been named Canada West Hockey's HUSKY WHL graduate of the month for January.

A 23-year old junior from Coaldale, Alberta, Thomson becomes the third winner of this year's monthly award.

First established in the 1989-90 season, the Canada West Hockey's HUSKY WHL graduate of the Month Award is now in its 17th season. The award is presented monthly to a graduate of the WHL who is playing on one of the seven teams in the CWUAA.

Scoring 12 points in eight games during January, Thomson helped Alberta's Golden Bears to a 7-1-0 record, including two victories over the top ranked Saskatchewan Huskies.

Thomson played five seasons in the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers.
