March 20, 2007 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
The Albuquerque Thunderbirds of the NBA Development League have reacquired forward Dijon Thompson to fill the roster spot vacated when guard Tony Bland left the team for personal reasons.
A 6-7, 195-pound product of UCLA, Thompson left the Thunderbirds on March 10 after playing in 23 games (22 starts) for coach Michael Cooper's club. Thompson, who had a couple of 10-day contracts with the Atlanta Hawks earlier this season, is averaging 19.1 points and 9.3 rebounds in 39.0 minutes per game for the T-Birds. He played in six games with Atlanta, averaging 2.8 points and 1.3 rebounds in 8.3 minutes.
Bland had played in and started 38 games for the Thunderbirds, averaging 36.2 minutes, 14.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists.
Thompson is expected to be in uniform when Albuquerque (20-21) is host to Idaho (28-13) Saturday at Tingley Coliseum. Game time is 7 p.m. MT.
*In other roster action today, the Bakersfield Jam waived swingman Qyntel Woods. In seven games Woods had averaged 15.1 minutes, 8.7 points and 2.1 rebounds.
