MOST IMPROVED: Three of the five players listed in a recent SI.com article about candidates for the NBA's Most Improved Player for 06-07 are former D-League players and two are former MVPs. Chris Ekstrand's piece touts former D-League MVPs Devin Brown of the Hornets, Matt Carroll of the Bobcats and former D-League Defensive Player of the Year Mikki Moore of the Nets along with Maurice Williams of the Bucks and Jason Kapono of the HEAT. Check out the piece in today's MEDIA TIMEOUT below.

PERFORMER OF WEEK: Albuquerque guard Julius Hodge has been named the D-LEAGUE.com Performer of the Week for March 19. The 20th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft narrowly missed a triple-double in his Albuquerque debut on Friday with 32 points, 14 assists and nine rebounds. He completed the feat on Sunday, scoring 13 points with 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over Bakersfield. Hodge averaged 22.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 12.0 assists in two games for the week.

D-FENDERS AND SWEET 16: With the most players on their roster from colleges still alive in the NCAA Basketball Championship, the way the schedule shakes out couldn't have been much better for optimum viewing time to watch their former teams. The D-Fenders don't play until Sunday, giving Jackie Manuel (North Carolina), Wesley Wilson (Georgetown), Andre Patterson (Tennessee) and Sean Banks (Memphis) time to catch the action.

MAYBE YOU KNEW, MAYBE YOU DIDN'T ... that Arkansas head coach Andy Stoglin played with the Harlem Globetrotters (1965-67) ... that Anaheim majority owner Louise Jones has a PhD in French Literature ... that Colorado principal Tim Wiens is an accomplished pilot with jet ratings.
