Real Salt Lake

Real Salt Lake opened the 2019 home schedule on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Corey Baird drew a first-half penalty and Albert Rusnák converted for his second goal in two matches this season while Nick Rimando made five saves to earn his 210th career win and 145th career shutout.

Defender Justen Glad (toe) and forward Joao Plata (ankle) both missed the match due to injury.

This week, Real Salt Lake takes to the road for the first of two consecutive matches away from Rio Tinto Stadium, facing D.C. United for RSL's first match at Audi Field on Saturday. It will be Rimando's final regular season match in D.C., where he starred for United from 2002-2006, winning MLS Cup alongside RSL Head Coach Mike Petke in 2004. Prior to the season opener, Rimando announced that he would retire after this season, his 20th season in MLS and 13th with Real Salt Lake. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT, with local TV coverage on KMYU, KSL.com and the KSL TV app. The radio broadcast will return to ESPN 700.

Utah Royals FC

Utah Royals FC opened preseason training camp last week at Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman, Utah and the team unveiled the secondary kits on Saturday. The team made an appearance at Real Salt Lake's home opener and signed autographs for fans prior to the match.

Head Coach Laura Harvey will have her full roster in camp this week after several players returned from international duty late last week. Kelley O'Hara, Becky Sauerbrunn and Christen Press helped to the U.S. to a 1-0-2 record in the 2019 SheBelieves Cup, topping Brazil 1-0 in the final match on Tuesday to jump into second place.

Meanwhile overseas, Desiree Scott and Diana Matheson helped Canada to a third-place finish in the 2019 Algarve Cup in Portugal, topping Sweden in a shootout in the third-place match on Wednesday. Rachel Corsie captained Scotland to a fifth-place finish, posting a 1-0 win over Denmark in the placement match. Finally, Gunny Jonsdottir and Iceland ousted Portugal 4-1 in the ninth-place match.

URFC heads to California next week for preseason matches before opening the 2019 season at Rio Tinto Stadium against the Washington Spirit on April 20.

Real Monarchs

The Monarchs opened the 2019 season on Saturday with a 1-1 road draw with the Sacramento Republic. Midfielder Jack Blake earned and converted a first-half penalty and goalkeeper David Ochoa finished the night with four saves in the draw. The Monarchs roster included four players on loan from RSL - Ochoa, defenders Donny Toia and Erik Holt and midfielder Pablo Ruiz.

The Monarchs open the home schedule on Saturday at Zions Bank Stadium, facing El Paso in a 1 p.m. start. Tickets are available at www.RealMonarchs.com/schedule

RSL Academy

The RSL Academy had the weekend off, but return to action on Saturday, hosting FC Golden State. The U19s are 9-3-5 and in playoff position while the U17s are 8-7-2 and chasing a postseason berth. Saturday's matches will be at the Zions Bank Real Academy, with the U17s starting at 11 a.m. and the U19s at 1:30 p.m.

RSL Foundation

The week is full of Scoring for Schools events, with one already taking place at Majestic Elementary in West Jordan on Monday and four more scheduled for the week. On Tuesday, the Foundation will visit Riverton Elementary, followed by assemblies at Butterfield Canyon Elementary in Herriman on Wednesday, Midas Creek Elementary in Riverton on Thursday and Daybreak Elementary in South Jordan on Friday.
