Jacksonville Barracudas News Release
Mr. David Waronker, owner, and Mr. Peter Young, Director of Hockey Operations of the Jacksonville Barracudas, Miami Manatees and ACHL Champion Orlando Seals announced today the promotions of three key staff members to senior positions.
Mr. Chris Rapson has been named General Manager of the Jacksonville Barracudas and will lead his off-ice team into the 2003-2004 season in the new Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Mr. Rapson had been Assistant General Manager of the Cudas since early January, after starting the season in a sales position.
"Chris has risen through the ranks in dramatic fashion," said Young. "He possesses the talent and leadership skills to take the front office to increased levels of productivity in the coming months. He and his staff have an incredible advantage in selling tickets and sponsorships for the best building in minor league hockey."
Bringing much experience with him, Mr. Rapson is assembling an outstanding sales and marketing team for the upcoming season. Returning as Corporate Sales Associate is Mr. Tim Johnson who has been in the sports scene in the Jacksonville market for 16 years. Joining the sales staff as Corporate Sales Director is Scott Allerding, formerly the Executive Director of Sales for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Rounding out the existing Barracudas staff are Media Relations Director Jill Sterling and Ticket Sales representative Sheena Mcleun.
In Orlando, Joe Fellini has been promoted to General Manager from Assistant General Manager and in Miami, Brad Shore has been promoted to General Manager from Assistant General Manager. "These promotions add a more meaningful title to the job descriptions of the managers in the three cities," according to Young. "In each city the coaches will continue to act as their own directors of player personnel as well as coach. The general managers will run the front office. And I'll continue to search for qualified personnel in each market."
The organization also announced that the Hockey Operations Department for all three teams has been moved to offices in Celebration, Florida.
